‘Antonia’, stayed January 2020: “Awesome is the only word to use for this place. The tastefully, yet unusually decorated house itself is luxurious and comfortable, in a stunning setting with gorgeous views down to the river. Even the swimming pool room evokes emotions that make it hard to leave the picturesque charm of Puggiestone. Venture into the local village Chagford for provisions and make sure you stock up from ‘Andy’ the friendly local butcher whose bacon goes down a treat after a country walk in the woods, all sorts of pasties from the bakery and classic West Country ‘homity pies’ from Blacks the deli (yep, this Devon village has it all – dairy, off licence, bakery, pubs, florist and all manner of shops) and you’ll have a fine time here. One question tho. When can we come back?”
‘Angela’, stayed December 2019: “We had such a wonderful time at Puggiestone, ‘The best Christmas ever’, according to my son, who tells me he is the only child in his class who was swimming on Christmas day. Twice! We loved every minute. The house was spotless on arrival – even my very particular mother was impressed. The whole place felt welcoming and gorgeously decorated for Christmas. Puggiestone’s grounds are incredible. The rainy weather meant we (happily) made more use of the pool than the garden but, when it cleared up, there was always somewhere interesting to explore outdoors. It was nice not to have to drive away to enjoy such beautiful natural surroundings.
‘Ms Murray’, stayed November 2019: “What a wonderful choice for a truly relaxing, peaceful time in the most beautiful setting overlooking sweeping lawns and a fresh gushing river. This large appealing house is decorated in a sophisticated, contemporary style with a variety of warm, comfortable places to sit and a kitchen containing everything a keen chef would require. The heated pool is a treat! Great detail….large beds and lovely linen. Good views. Also good for walking and Chagford nearby. Perfection!”
